Lower Merion School District Natural Gas
The Lower Merion School District has a fleet of 113 vehicles, which includes 58 buses fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG), the largest fleet of alternative fuel school buses on the East Coast. The District has been honored by the U.S. Department of Energy as "Pennsylvania's primary success story for alternative fuels," and is the only District to serve on the Board of the Greater Philadelphia Clean Cities Group.
The District also tries to minimize its environmental impact by using bio-diesel in its diesel fueled vehicles.

The Office of Pollution Prevention and Energy Assistance works with citizen's groups, businesses, trade organizations, local governments and communities to help them reduce pollution and save energy. In addition, the office works to foster and develop alternative energy solutions.

DEP Announces Natural Gas Vehicle Resource Website, Technical Assistance Plan
The Department of Environmental Protection is pleased to announce the launch of a Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) website and plan to help municipal and commercial fleet owners make informed decisions about converting their fleets to compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas, in advance of a related grant program.
